- I can explain a historical connection using relevant evidence and qualify the conclusion.
4 questions, written answer, each with a worked explanation.
Vocabulary used: context, evidence, interpretation, fiscal system, jurisdiction.
Problem 1
Answer and explanation
Use the same criteria and dated evidence for each state. A larger territory cannot substitute for evidence about administration or household conditions. Choose a bounded question rather than asking which civilization was simply best.
Problem 2
Answer and explanation
A cannon is not a self-contained cause of political expansion. Explain supply, funding, strategy, and opponents. Different states with access to firearms could have different outcomes because their institutions and circumstances differed.
Problem 3
Answer and explanation
Study a policy through its rule, jurisdiction, implementation, and affected groups. Do not infer modern equal citizenship from permission to worship, or assume every state associated with a religion followed identical rules.
Problem 4
Answer and explanation
An imperial history should connect official claims with production and practical obligations. Ask whose labor and resources support a project, who benefits, and what evidence is missing. Prestige at a court is not a complete measure of a society’s well-being.
