When your homeschool notice is due
Thirty-eight jurisdictions want notice. Some want it on a fixed date each year; the rest count from the day you start.
Two kinds of deadline
17 states name a date — the same one every year, whether or not anything has changed. Missing it is the commonest filing mistake, because nothing prompts you.
21 states count from an event: the day instruction begins, or the day the child is withdrawn. These cannot be diarized in advance, and the clock usually starts before a parent realises it has.
