The sentence offered shelter from the rain. We crowded under it and called it true. A child outside the margin said her name. The grammar had no subject for her yet.

We lifted up the roof of what we meant, replaced a beam, admitted there was weather. The finished line was harder to repeat. We read it slowly. It held more of us.
